Overview

These pages describe Resolver behavior for manufacturing applications when you export from Siemens Process Simulate.

Connector-wide rules (study modes, robots, OLP, and the application list) live in Supported Features. Use the links in the table to jump to the sections that matter for each process.

ProcessDescriptionKnown limitations
Spot processes (e.g. Spot Welding)Multi-robot spot welding: Resolver optimizes cycle time using collision-aware motion, interlocks, and dynamics. When your export includes WeldOperation data, Resolver also picks up weld time and SD/ED (start/end gun-axis distances on supported controllers) from Process Simulate. Near weld points you can use hybrid interpolation for a mix of fast joint motion and short linear segments.
  • Air welding: supported with some workarounds.
  • Pneumatic / servo-pneumatic guns: not fully supported.
  • External gun (gun on pedestal): not yet fully supported. See Dynamic device exported as static.
Continuous operationsMIG/MAG welding, adhesive, similar seam work: each seam must be defined in Process Simulate and exported. Resolver plans transit from home to seams and between seams, and coordinates motion along those seams with interlocks and reordering operations in the task to reduce mutual blocking.
  • Seam geometry: Resolver does not reshape seams—TCP tilt along the weld, seam distribution across robots, bead placement, and other seam detail stay as you authored them in Process Simulate.
Handling operationsMaterialHandlingOperation, Via locations: collision-checked motion between exported targets, interlocks in shared space, cycle time from joint dynamics (multi-robot as in the export).—
Tool changingYou can change tools in operations that Resolver plans by encoding tool-change steps with the supported OLP commands in Process Simulate.
  • Dynamics calibration: uses the payload from the last Payload OLP you ran before export—misleading if you switch tools often; prefer a representative payload (e.g. closest to the mean across tools) before calibration.
