Joints with missing links

Platform: Process Simulate

One or more devices in the study have joints that are missing a parent link, a child link, or both in their kinematic definition. This is usually a modeling or CAD import issue. You can acknowledge the warning and continue export, but the listed joints are excluded from the export.

Dialog shown in Resolver

The following devices have joints with missing parent or child links: Device: {deviceName}Joint: {jointName} (missing {parentOrChildLink}) These joints will be excluded from the export

What you can do in this dialog

  • Can you continue export? Yes
  • Buttons in the popup: OK / Cancel
  • What happens next: OK lets you proceed; Cancel stops export so you can fix the model.
  • Next step: See impact if you continue or How to fix it

Impact if you continue

Affected joints are not exported. Resolver does not model their motion or include them in collision geometry for this run. Optimization may ignore mechanisms that depend on those joints.

How to fix it

  1. For each device and joint listed, open Robot Jog or the device kinematics editor in Process Simulate.
  2. Repair the kinematic chain so every joint has valid parent and child links, or re-import or remodel the device if the CAD definition is incomplete.
  3. Save the study and re-run export.
